Well today was the first day of BarCamp Johannesburg 2008 and it lived up to its reputation of being an exciting and invigorating un-conference. The talks included:
- System thinking by Carl Spes,
- Quantum Computing - A threat to computer security (i dont have the speakers name. I will try and get it tomorrow,
- Yahoo FireEagle - by Evan Henshaw-Plath,
- Johannesburg Wireless User Group by JP,
- A discussion on Rich Internet Application - led b yme. I didnt prepare for it and it showed :(
- A discussion on mobile application development - lead by Erik Hersman
I may have missed one or two people out but by far the greatest benefit was getting to meet people and chat about things techie. Tomorrow is the last day and there are promises of a talk by one of the twitter developers. Any one is welcome. See the barcamp web site for details
