I don't know about the rest of Johannesburg but in Randburg it seems that Neotel keeps on digging up the same trench every few weeks. They have dug up the road and pavement at least twice in front of our offices and about three times on Main road.
I have been late for work now on more occasions than I care to count because of those guys laying out orange pipes. Not to mention the wear and tear on my car from the tank traps that are left behind for unsuspecting motorists.
Does any one know what up? Is it only Neotel or is it another company like Eskom as well? I have seen some red piping being laid down as well. Although I am glad to see new infrastructure being laid down and the jobs and economic opportunites this creates I am getting a little bit peeved now.

Vodacom and MTN also laying fibre
I was listening to the radio recently and MTN and Vodacom are also laying a lot of fibre. The MTN rep that was speaking said they and Vodacom were co-operating to save costs and only dig up the road once. Maybe its not Neotel then? Google SA also reckons South Africa will have one of the lowest internet access costs in the world within the next few years.
It is not only Neotel that
It is not only Neotel that is laying cables, as was said in the previous statement. But apparently (according to Neotel) they are the only ones that can lay fibre right up to the clients doorstep ...
