vTiger 5 - Beta -- A much improved offering

We have decided to start testing the upcoming release of vTiger intermally and recently installed it on our servers. Besides being early adopters by nature there were a couple of reasons why we did this:

• Try out the software so we can tell clients what coming in the next versoin,
• We needed to split some of our sales activities and needed another installation of vTiger and,
• Some of the short-coming of vTger 4 were just beginning to get to us

So far version 5 really outshines version 4. It's interface is slicker, the functionality is better, especially the new marketing tab which looks great for running campaigns. We haven't used this new tab yet, other than clicking around, but definitely will start to incorporate it into our marketing plans.

The main problems we had with version 4 were the bugs and a lot of broken functionality like filters on reports. Recently the vtiger team released an upgrade for the stable stream. We installed the update and it seemed to fix a lot of the problems but we wanted to start trying out version 5.

We did briefly try the migration tool for version 4 to version 5 but it didn't work. Admitedly we didn't try to figure out why deciding to rather wait for the stable reales before testing this. Our advice to anyone wanting to install vTiger now is to wait for version 5. It should be ready soon.
