SUSE ENTERPRISE STORAGE ADMINISTRATION - COURSE SES201

This two day course introduces students to SUSE Enterprise Storage and provides students with the skills to deploy, access, administer and monitor a basic storage cluster. The course prepares students for the new SUSE Certified Administrator in Enterprise Storage exam. Applicable to versions 3 and 4 of the product.

Key Objectives

In this course, attendees will learn the following:

  •  Understand SES 3 components and architecture
  •  Install a basic SES 3 Ceph cluster using the ceph-deploy utility
  •  Understand and use RADOS, OSDs, Monitors and Ceph data placement
  •  Access and use block and object storage using rbd, iSCSI and Ceph Object Gateway
  •  Using Erasure Coding
  •  Monitoring the Ceph cluster

Section 3: Data Placement and Pools
Section 4: Configure and access Block Storage using rbd
Section 5: Access Block Storage using iSCSI
Section 6: Using the Ceph Object Gateway (RADOS-GW)
Section 7: Using Erasure Coding with Ceph
Section 8: Monitoring the Ceph cluster from command line and Calamari web interface

Course Prerequisites

Students should have Linux System Administration skills equivalent to SUSE Certified Administra-tor in Enterprise Linux 12. Familiarity with other storage solutions and distributed filesystems is helpful but not essential.

SUSE ENTERPRISE STORAGE ADVANCED ADMINISTRATION - COURSE SES301

This two day course teaches students advanced administration for SUSE Enterprise Stor-age. Students should have a basic understanding of Ceph storage, the RADOS cluster and typical gateways. Pricing

Key Objectives

In this course, attendees will learn the following:

  •  Understand Salt and deploy a storage cluster using DeepSea
  •  Use the OpenATTIC web management tool to monitor and manage a storage cluster
  •  Understand how to use the CephFS filesystem, including both kernel and user space access
  •  Edit CRUSH maps to control the placement of data
  •  Manage multi-site synchronized deployments of RADOS-GW object gateways
  •  Configure Cache Tiering on a storage cluster
